Author, Rae Turnbull

George Turnbull's artistic expertise is clearly evident in the limited edition books he designed and illustrated for his wife, author and artist Rae Turnbull. These handsome paperbacks, illustrated with George's beautiful drawings, have approximately 90 to 115 separate poetic essay selections in each book. They make lovely gifts, as single volumes, or as a complete set.
For twenty years, Rae Turnbull's syndicated poetic essay column was a favorite weekly feature in newspapers in northern California, southern Oregon, eastern Iowa, and all of Nebraska and Nevada. With nearly 3000 original poetic essays in publication, Rae became known as the poet who spoke to the heart and soul of family. The basic values held dear by the folks in so many of the small towns and farms and ranches in the west found voice in Rae Turnbull's words.

In 1989, responding to overwhelming reader requests, the Turnbulls published "Echoes in the Corners of my Heart," their first limited edition collection of some of Rae's poetic essay columns. No longer available, this book is now considered a prized collector's item. Readers often maintained that Rae wrote what their hearts knew to be true. The following samples will help you understand why. The Turnbulls published three additional separate collections, in larger quantities, and those three editions are still available under the following titles:

When Wildflowers are in Bloom
published in 1992
When the Heart most clearly Speaks
published in 1997
I hear the Whispers in the Twilight
published in 2001
